Staying Connected

Thanks again to the 80+ volunteers who agreed to participate in our Strategic Planning Focus Groups in June. You’ll find photos of some of the participants on page 10-11, along with an article written by Brian Walker highlighting year to date accomplishments and detailing the Strategic Planning Process itself.

BTP welcomes HP’s Director of Golf Instruction, Kristine Bonham, PGA to its pages! Her inaugural column, titled Coach Kristine’s Corner, is on page 24. She’ll be sharing ideas to help you improve your game. Check it out!

Members came together to celebrate our country’s 250th Anniversary by either hitting the links in our annual July 4th Scramble, or being entertained at the Oasis Pool Party. See photos starting on page 12.

Florida is known as the Sunshine State, and for good reason – the state regularly experiences long stretches of hot, humid weather, but, believe it or not, the all-time warmest air temperatures are lower than nearly every other state! See my article What Are the Highest Temperatures Ever Recorded in Florida? On page 42.

I’ve heard rumors and grumblings about the difficulty some of you have reading BTP on your cell phone. A piece of advice: if you have an iPad, PLEASE consider reading the issue on that. The screen is larger, and way easier to read. On either device, please know there’s an option for you to download this issue (or any prior issue) as a PDF (Adobe) for viewing, rather than using a web browser. Simply click the downward arrow icon (#3 at right) to download the magazine as a PDF on your laptop, iPad, or cell phone. The PDF version shows one page at a time (vs. the two pages you see side by side “on line”). It’s then far easier to scroll down, page by page, and enlarge any to see photos, etc. closer up. Try it, you’ll like it!

Should you have an article to submit for the September issue, my deadline is August 2. Postcards are always welcome! Please email to [email protected].
