  • BETWEEN THE PALMS
Dan Barden with fellow Veterans at the WWII Memorial Atlantic Theater fountain

From Dan Barden, US Army – 586th Engineers: The Honor Flight Network flies World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War Veterans from 125 hubs to Washington, D.C. to visit their war memorials at no cost to the Veterans. According to their website, the total number of Veterans flown to DC since 2005 is 300,000! Volunteers greet the planes in our nation’s capital. They are then treated to a busy schedule, visiting all the war memorials as well as Arlington Cemetery in one day!

I was lucky enough to be one of 150 or so Veterans to make this one-of-a-kind journey from Fort Myers to D.C. on April 25. We visited Arlington Cemetery, the WWII Memorial, Korean Memorial, and Vietnam Memorial. Former HP member, Rich Jenkins, also joined me on this trip.

Changing of the Guard at Arlington Cemetery.

From Debbie Edwards: Our annual tri-state Chicago area HP ladies golf outing on July 21st was a big success again this year. We met at Village Links Golf Club in Glen Ellyn, IL for a round of golf and lively lunch. It was so much fun to see each other and catch up.
