I want to thank all of you who participated in the Strategic Planning Vision Survey and provided the many insightful comments that were reviewed by the Committee last month.
The survey, completed in September 2026, achieved an exceptionally strong response with 1,148 of 1,649 households participating – a 70% response rate which provides broad representation of the Heritage Palms membership. With a 95% confidence level and a margin of error of approximately +/- 0.8% for the household Overall Satisfaction result, the survey findings provide a highly precise and statistically reliable foundation for the Club’s strategic planning priorities.
With the information gathering phase complete, the process moves to evaluation, prioritization, and action with the Strategic Planning Committee our new General Manager and the Board.
The Strategic Planning Committee serves as the facilitator of the planning process. Using the information gathered, the Committee identifies the key themes, opportunities, challenges, and priorities facing the Club.
Club Benchmarking was contracted to provide consulting services to Heritage Palms as the strategic plan is developed and executed.
The General Manager and Senior Management Team provides the operational and financial perspective necessary to turn strategic ideas into realistic plans.
The Board of Directors provides governance and ensures that the strategic plan reflects the long-term interests of the Club and its membership.
The Board focuses primarily on where the Club is going and why, while management focuses on how the Club will get there.
Remember the goal of strategic planning is not simply to create a plan—it is to create alignment among the membership, Strategic Planning Committee, management, and Board around the Club’s future direction and the actions necessary to achieve it.
This process will not be done behind closed doors, and as I have stated earlier, transparency is critical so you understand how the Strategic Plan is being developed. Each Board meeting starting in February 2027 will have a presentation from the Strategic Planning Committee on the current status of the Strategic Plan so the Board has an opportunity to ask questions and provide approval at each phase. If you want to be kept updated on the status of the process, please attend or review the Board meeting minutes each month and of course, I will keep you updated monthly through these Between the Palms articles.
