Meet Andy Galan, HP Fitness Instructor

  • AS TOLD TO JANE BREISCH, EDITOR
Andy Galan, Heritage Palms fitness instructor

Andy Galan is an HP Fitness Instructor and Specialist Trainer in sports – especially golf and tennis. He obtained his Occupational Associate of Science degree in 2008, and in May, 2013, he received his BS in Sports Management – Fitness and Wellness. He is now working on his Masters for Health Promotion and Exercise Science Rehabilitation. This degree will enable him to work with a broad range of clients on injury prevention, weight loss, strengthening and conditioning, sports rehabilitation, pain management, stroke recovery and more.

Andy is currently certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Corrective Exercise Specialist (one who addresses Rehabilitation and Sport Training). He’s helped numerous clients at HP to strengthen weak muscles through movement assessment, as his Kinesiology, Physiology, and Body Mechanics training enables him to spot problem areas. Working with clients from 10 to 94 years of age, Andy’s quite a busy guy! One of his sayings is, “Control the weight, don’t let the weight control you.” Controlled movements with weight are better than fast and jerking ones.

In addition, Andy has helped out at our Fitness Center assisting members at the front desk. He also attends his local church, Apostolic Praise Tabernacle, with his family, where he is one of the ministers. They’ve been members there since 2015.

Church gathering at 8 a.m. for a prayer walk in downtown Fort Myers on Saturday, April 18, 2026. “We prayed for our police and fire departments, and our courthouse leaders and staff for guidance, wisdom, and protection. Then we had breakfast and fellowship.”

He and his family have helped in outreach programs including the Homeless Coalition, and the Food Pantry on Martin Luther Blvd. They have also provided food, clothing, furniture, and cookware to the Acts Shelter, which protects women and children from domestic abuse. The shelter offers them a place to stay, as well as counseling where it is greatly needed. For more than eight years, Andy has also participated in the Panera End of Day Doughnation program, where they picked up donated bread and distributed to those in need in the local community. Not limited to Fort Myers only, Andy and his family have traveled to Saint Augustine, Tampa, Labelle, Lehigh Acres, and Immokalee, to offer help to those in need.

Andy and his family traveled to Indianapolis, IN where they attended a North American Youth Conference, and were part of SERVE Day 2025. “We were some of the many volunteers for Reach Out America, a disaster relief organization. There where over 30,000 youth from churches across the country gathered together at the Colts stadium. In an hour and ten minutes, 1,000 youth packed $385,000 worth of emergency supplies, into 2,000 buckets!”

Andy and his wife, Martha, have been married for 33 years. They have three children: Andy is 31 and married; Delilah is 17; and Armand, is 15. Martha is a stay-at-home mom who homeschools their children. Andy enjoys hanging around at home with his family, and playing his guitars to improve his skill when he plays at his Spanish services. His best friend would describe him as “easy to get along with, a problem solver, honest, and thoughtful of others.” That’s Andy!
