The HP Book Club will meet on Friday, February 21, at 2:30 p.m. in the Activity Center to discuss The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride. The story involves a skeleton, found in an old well in 1972, that unravels the hidden secrets of Chicken Hill, a Pennsylvania neighborhood in the 1920s and 30s, where Jewish, black, and immigrant folks made their homes. It’s a community of people bonded together by the links of love and duty, and it’s here that McBride’s tale truly begins. One reviewer described the book as “charming, smart, heart-blistering and heart- healing.” Doris Orff will lead the discussion.

Club meetings are open to all residents who read the book. If you wish to be added to the HP Book Club mailing list, please email me.
