HPCO Leadership Change and Annual Report Issued

CHARITABLE EVENTS ON THE HORIZON

The Heritage Palms Charitable Organization Inc. (HPCO) held its Annual Meeting in December and elected new Directors for the 2025-26 term. Anthony Plevniak, past President, nominated Barbara Gregg and Allan Potechin to serve as Directors, and both nominations were met with unanimous approval. Allan also assumes the reins as President and will be leading HPCO into its 3rd year of helping employees. Additionally, Andrea Stern announced that she would not seek re-election as a Director, but would continue as an HPCO volunteer. The meeting concluded with the nomination of Mary Stippich to fill another Director role, a motion that also passed smoothly, ensuring strong leadership for the upcoming term.

Shortly after the meeting, Allan completed the HPCO annual report: ”From the inception of the HPCO through 2024, we have received significant donations from HP members either directly or through our two main fundraising events. From these donations we were able to allocate nearly $90,000 to HP employees to address their extraordinary needs, consistent with our charter. Fundraising expenses have been minimal.”

Two important events occur in early 2025. Our third annual dinner dance, A Night at the Disco, was held on January 25. Last year’s event was memorable with the spirit of Paris filling the air, while enjoying French cuisine and time on the dance floor. With a 5-piece band singing and playing music from the 60’s and 70’s, we hope exceeded all expectations. Visit our website for photos!

The 3rd annual golf outing fundraiser will be held on April 13, and will include a helicopter ball drop and a raffle with five cash prize winners including the $10,000 Grand Prize. Tickets went on sale at the Dinner Dance. HPCO has also secured a $500 in-kind grant from 4Imprint as part of a monthly competition to help non-profits. The grant will be used for logo items such as a tablecloth and goody bag items for the golf outing.

Under New Business, Jon Waller raised an important issue regarding communications with the HPGCC employees. The suggestion was made to distribute bi-lingual flyers informing all employees about HPCO’s mission and encouraging them, particularly those in maintenance, to pursue support when needed. The requests must meet HPCO employee need guidelines. HPCO Board members will check into the possibility of creating these flyers.

Collective efforts such as these helps ensure that Heritage Palms remains a thriving, supportive environment for all.
